Training on Most Significant Change (MSC)

CIRCLE Indonesia has facilitated a Training on Most Significant Change for CAFOD’s partners on 6-7 December 2011 in Nangroe Aceh Darussalam. The training was attended by 13 participants (2 women and 11 men). The objectives of the training were:

  1. To increase the knowledge and understanding of CAFOD Partners about MSC techniques.
  2. To provide practical steps to implement the MSC techniques in the ME Framework.
  3. To increase awareness among critical issue in MSC implementation.

    There are three topics discussed in this training :
  1. MSC in M&E Framework.
  2. MSC Steps: Introducing MSC, determine the topic of change, define the reporting period, collecting stories Significant Changes (SC) , feedback on the selected story, verification, quantification, meta monitoring and secondary analysis, revise the MSC system.
  3. Critical Issues in Implementing MSC.

All the objectives above are achieved in a various levels. The use of participatory approaches in training actively managed to encourage participants to share experiences and knowledge during the training. Although some participants could not attend the training completely, the participants’ enthusiasm is considered high. It is really help to create a dynamic learning process of each other.The eight sessions in this two-days training is entirely conducted in a participatory approach.
